State Farm has revealed their first ever sponsorship with an individual esports player, Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo.
Lupo is a leading streamer in the Fortnite community, playing to 2.9 million Twitch followers and influencing 7 million followers across all of his social media platforms. He is also captain of Rogue’s Fortnite team.
“DrLupo is one of the world’s most followed Fortnite streamers,” proclaims Ed Gold, State Farm’s Marketing Director. He continues, “his philanthropic efforts and massive fanbase make him an ideal partner as well continue to amplify our esports programming and efforts with the gaming community.”
DrLupo often streams for charities, having raised $1.3 million for St. Jude’s Research Hospital in 2018. He also broke multiple fundraising records while streaming for St. Jude PLAY LIVE - an initiative that invites gamers to stream with all proceeds going towards the hospital. Lupo’s fans also enjoy his wife and three-year-old son jumping on the stream from time to time.
Last year, State Farm named ReKTGlobal, the parent company of Rogue, their “agency of record” regarding esports. The insurance company went on to be North America’s first non-endemic sponsor for the League of Legends Championship Series, while also sponsoring the NBA 2K league and the Rocket League Championship Series.
DrLupo’s sponsorship includes “branded replays, live-in-stream stuns and product integrations, event-based remote streams, sponsored giveaways, and social content.”
“Being given the opportunity to work with State Farm is, without a doubt, huge,” says Lupo. “I couldn’t imagine a better company to work with, and I’m excited to see what we can do together in the future.”
